MINI Cooper John Cooper Works GP Concept bows in NYC

Published on March 30 2018

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, the incredible John Cooper Works GP concept was at the New York Auto Show this week. The concept is a new generation of the MINI Cooper S Works GP introduced in 2006 and also of the 2012 John Cooper Works GP. However, the concept displays even more aggressive lines that make it impossible for this concept of go unnoticed.

Very aggressive lines for the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept

The MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept displays very aggressive lines. It is large and imposing while displaying a sense of speed even when it isn’t moving. A gaping and massive grille at the front suggests a high-level cooling system while the brakes will also benefit from a cooling system a race car would be proud of thanks to very wide air intakes in front of the wheels. There is also another air intake on the hood.

The MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept looks just like a race car in the World Rally Championship series.

Inside, there is practically nothing, which is what you would expect from a race car. There are two front seats, a safety cage and racing belts ... and that's it. Shift paddles are fitted to the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept's tiny steering wheel while the seats offer all the lateral support needed to tackle a racetrack with confidence.

We do not yet know which engine will propel the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept, but we imagine that it is an even more powerful version of the 228-horsepower engine of the MINI Cooper John Cooper Works.
