What the Elementary Edition Is

The Elementary Edition is a special configuration of the 2027 MINI Countryman SE ALL4, designed to bring the all-electric Countryman to a lower starting price without stripping out the features that make it worth buying. It starts at $49,990 before taxes, with an all-inclusive price of $53,774.

The name is deliberate. MINI describes it as the perfect entry point into the MINI family, built for big weekends and long drives while keeping the core of what makes the Countryman SE worth choosing: AWD, a panoramic sunroof, strong safety tech, and up to 348 km of range.

Heated seats, a panoramic roof, parking assistance, blind spot monitoring, and a full suite of collision prevention systems are all in at the base price. The Elementary Edition is available in four exterior colours.

Interior upholstery comes in two combinations: Vescin/Cloth in Black/Blue or Vescin/Cloth in Grey/Blue. Both use a mix of synthetic and cloth materials that give the cabin a clean, modern look without requiring leather.

Charging: What Comes With the Car

One thing worth knowing before you configure: the Flexible Fast Charger cable and adapters are not included as standard equipment on the Elementary Edition. MINI made this decision to allow buyers to choose a charging setup that fits their specific situation, particularly for drivers who already have a home charging solution in place.

If you already have a Level 2 charger installed in your driveway, you likely do not need the portable cable for daily use anyway. If you are setting up home charging for the first time, the cable and adapters are available for purchase through MINI Ottawa. Ask the team about what makes sense for your setup when you come in.

For public charging, the Countryman SE charges at up to 130 kW at DC fast chargers, getting from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes. Ottawa's public charging network covers the city well, and DC fast chargers are available along the major corridors to Montreal and Toronto for longer trips.

Powertrain and Range

The Elementary Edition uses the same powertrain as the rest of the Countryman SE lineup. Two electric motors drive all four wheels through MINI's Intelligent ALL4 system. Output is 308 horsepower with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds. The battery delivers up to 348 km of range per the Government of Canada's approved testing criteria.

For an Orleans driver doing a daily commute of 50 to 70 km round trip, that range comfortably covers the week on a home charge. In Ottawa winter conditions at minus fifteen to minus twenty, plan for roughly 20 to 30 percent less range than the rated figure. Pre-conditioning the car while still plugged in before you leave each morning significantly reduces that impact.

No-charge scheduled maintenance is included for 3 years with unlimited kilometres, which is a stronger maintenance package than what comes with either the Audi Q4 e-tron or Volvo EX30 at their respective base configurations.

EVAP Incentive Eligibility

The Elementary Edition's base model may qualify for the federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), which offers up to $5,000 for eligible electric vehicles. Final eligibility depends on the transaction value, so confirm current program status and whether your specific build qualifies with the MINI Ottawa team before purchasing.

For Gatineau residents, Quebec's Roulez vert provincial rebate may also apply on top of the federal EVAP amount, making the Elementary Edition an even stronger value proposition on the Quebec side of the river.

How It Fits Into the 2027 Countryman SE Lineup

The 2027 Countryman SE ALL4 is available in two configurations.

The $10,000 gap between the two is meaningful. For buyers who want the Countryman SE's core capability, AWD, 348 km of range, a panoramic roof, and the full safety suite, the Elementary Edition delivers all of it at a price that also opens the door to the federal EVAP rebate.

How It Compares to the Audi Q4 e-tron and Volvo EX30

The Elementary Edition changes the cross-shopping picture compared to the standard SE Premier. At $53,774 all-in, it is priced closer to the Volvo EX30 and meaningfully below the Audi Q4 e-tron's typical transaction price in Canada.

The Volvo EX30 is smaller and less expensive at the base, but offers significantly less interior space and cargo room than the Countryman. For a buyer who wants five real seats and a proper cargo area, the size gap matters.

The Audi Q4 e-tron offers more cargo space and a longer range depending on configuration, but at a higher price. The Elementary Edition closes the gap on features while keeping the price competitive, and comes with MINI's 3-year unlimited-km maintenance package that neither the Q4 e-tron nor the EX30 match at the base.

The Countryman SE is the only one of the three that generates a second look on Rideau Street. For buyers who care about that, it is worth noting that the Elementary Edition maintains the Countryman's full exterior character, including the 19-inch JCW wheels and LED headlights with cornering function, at the lower price.
